A fatal boat crash on the Fox River in McHenry County left one person dead and two others injured on Saturday.
A two-boat collision on the Fox River in McHenry County resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred near the 2400-block of Riverside Drive West, just south of the McHenry Dam. According to District Battalion Chief Chris Kozel, four people were involved in the crash. One boat ran ashore, leaving one passenger with non-life-threatening injuries and another who fled the scene. The second boat involved a passenger who died at the scene and another who was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The McHenry County Sheriff's Office closed the river from the McHenry Dam to South Stilling Drive for several hours while emergency crews and a dive team investigated. The waterway reopened by 6:15 p.m. Illinois state Sen. Craig Wilcox expressed his condolences for the victims and asked residents to watch for any members of the "offending boat" who may still be on foot in the Holiday Hills area. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Police is currently leading the investigation.
