A 16-year-old boy from Las Vegas was arrested after allegedly shooting a man to death in a Santa Monica Pier parking lot.

A 16-year-old boy from Las Vegas was taken into custody after allegedly shooting a man to death in a parking lot near the Santa Monica Pier. The shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday following a physical altercation between two groups of people. First responders arrived at Parking Lot 1 North to find the adult victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to provide life-saving treatment, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy surrendered to authorities a day after the incident. Santa Monica Police Chief Darrick Jacob stated that while the life lost cannot be replaced, the swift work of detectives allowed the suspect to be safely apprehended. The shooting occurred during one of the city's busiest weekends in recent memory, which featured an open streets festival and World Cup watch parties.
