Tanya Terry reports two Indianapolis police officers are stable after a male suspect was killed during a critical incident on the city's east side.
Chief Tanya Terry of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that two officers remain in stable condition following a "critical incident" on Wednesday night. The shooting occurred in the 8000 block of East 37th Street, where officers responded to a reported disturbance at a home. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man and a woman. The male suspect, who was armed with a gun, fired at the officers, injuring two of them. At least one officer returned fire, striking the male suspect. While the specific names of the individuals involved were not immediately released, the male suspect was reported to be in critical condition at a nearby hospital. Chief Tanya Terry expressed pride in the officers' actions during a news conference at Eskenazi Hospital. She noted that while the police were attacked while attempting to help someone in need, the community should stand by the officers every day. The incident marks the latest in a series of local shootings involving police and suspects.
