Four teenagers from the northwest suburbs were killed after a pickup truck struck a train box car in Chicago's West Lawn neighborhood on Sunday morning. The victims were identified as Yurem Garcia-Pena, Yaritza Martinez-Villeda, Christopher Lopez-Montan, and Vanessa Morales. The incident began at approximately 2:16 a.m. when Chicago police responded to a report of a vehicle with a person pointing a gun. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, leading to a brief pursuit. Illinois State Police later attempted to stop the vehicle in the 5500 block of South Cicero Avenue. Although the driver initially stopped, they fled again at a high rate of speed. During the high-speed pursuit, the vehicle careened off a bridge and struck a freight train box car in the 6900 block of South Cicero Avenue. Three of the four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died. The incident remains under investigation.
