Junior Cee Niko Semo, Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, and Ashley Whitehead Died in Deadly Street Gunfight at Seattle Food Festival
A deadly street gunfight at the annual Bite of Seattle food festival near Seattle's Space Needle left three people dead and at least four others injured on Sunday. Junior Cee Niko Semo, 19, Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, 44, and Ashley Whitehead, 56, were the victims of the gunfire, which erupted around 6 p.m. during the final day of the three-day event. Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes and Acting Chief Tyrone Davis reported that a 15-year-old suspect was arrested and held in juvenile detention. Authorities are still searching for a second suspect, who may have been involved in the shootout or could have been one of the victims. Mayor Katie Wilson condemned the gun violence, stating that no parent should have to bury their child. The community gathered for a candlelight vigil on Monday to pay tribute to the victims. While the investigation continues, the Seattle Center area remains a primary focus for the investigation as officials seek to identify the motive behind the shooting.
