Sharif Ahmadzai Accused of Killing Scottish Aid Worker Elisabeth-Jane Ross in Athens
Greek authorities are investigating the murder of 38-year-old Scottish aid worker Elisabeth-Jane Ross, who was found dead in a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens. The suspect, 26-year-old Sharif Ahmadzai, was arrested after being identified as the man who allegedly transported the body to the site. While Ahmadzai admitted to carrying the suitcase and withdrawing money from Ross's bank cards, he has yet to fully confess to the act of killing her. Ross arrived in Greece on June 26 to volunteer with a refugee support group. She was a friend of Ahmadzai's wife, Alaina Hall, and both were involved in the charity Love Every Nation. Ahmadzai, an Afghan refugee and champion boxer, was turned in to police by Hall after she became suspicious of his movements and the money he gave her. Police are currently analyzing toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are also working to identify the victim's American friends who were staying in the same district.
