Honda Motor Co. will discontinue the Prologue electric SUV after the 2026 model year as the automaker scales back its U.S. EV lineup.

Honda Motor Co. will conclude sales of the Prologue electric SUV following the completion of the 2026 model year. The vehicle, which was developed as a joint venture with General Motors, served as a precursor to Honda's planned "0 Series" of in-house electric vehicles. However, the administration announced the discontinuation of several federal tax credits and emission penalties last year, contributing to a broader retreat in the U.S. electric vehicle market. The Prologue faced significant competition and high production costs, including a 25% tariff on units shipped from Mexico. While it was once a top-selling EV for the brand, sales fell by nearly 49% in the first half of 2026. This move follows the discontinuation of the Acura ZDX and the cancellation of the Afeela joint venture with Sony. As the market adjusts to lower demand and higher costs, Honda plans to shift its domestic focus toward hybrids, efficient internal-combustion engines, and next-generation fuel-cell technology.
