Gaza residents hold mass funeral for 112 victims allegedly killed by Israeli forces in 2023
Gaza residents gathered on Tuesday for a mass funeral to bury 112 people, including 40 children, who were allegedly killed by Israeli forces during a residential block collapse in November 2023. The remains, belonging primarily to the Abu Sharia and Hassayna families, were recovered after a two-week excavation process that required digging through layers of crushed concrete. This event is considered the largest mass funeral in Palestinian history. While many victims were buried, thousands of others remain missing under the rubble across the Gaza Strip. The funeral provided a sense of closure for families who had been waiting nearly three years for the remains of their loved ones to be retrieved. Simultaneously, in the Middle East, President Trump stated that talks with Iran have resumed to wind down the conflict. However, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, clarified that negotiations were only being held with Oman to establish safe navigation routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
