More than 1,100 employees from leading artificial intelligence firms, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, have signed a petition requesting the US government to support an international effort to deliberately pace the development of automated AI. The letter emphasizes that the government should provide the option to buy time to address emerging risks and strengthen oversight.
