Amazon customers can claim up to $51 in a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission by July 2026.
Amazon customers who were part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission can receive up to $51 by July 27, 2026. The company agreed to the settlement in September 2025, placing $1.5 billion into a consumer refund fund and paying a $1 billion civil penalty. While Amazon did not admit wrongdoing, the Federal Trade Commission alleged that the company enrolled consumers in Prime without obtaining informed consent and made the subscription difficult to cancel. To qualify, U.S. Amazon Prime customers must have signed up through specific enrollment flows or unsuccessfully tried to cancel online between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. Eligible consumers must have used between four and nine Prime benefits during any 12-month period of enrollment. While the company sent automatic refunds to some customers in late 2025, those who did not receive one may still file a claim through the official settlement website. Payments can be received via Prime membership, PayPal, or Venmo.
