Kennewick police located a 4-year-old girl and are searching for her father, Matthew Susmilch, who is considered armed and dangerous.

Kennewick police confirmed that a 4-year-old girl, who was the subject of a regional AMBER Alert, was found safe in Pasco early Sunday morning. The child was taken by her father, Matthew Susmilch, after he assaulted a victim in an apartment on South Conway Place on Saturday morning. The search began after police determined that Matthew Susmilch was armed and had made threats to harm his daughter. Although Tri-City Regional SWAT teams responded to the scene, Matthew Susmilch did not cooperate with negotiators and left the area with the child before officers arrived. The Washington State Patrol broadcast the alert at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The child was found unharmed and returned to her family. Authorities are still searching for the 41-year-old Matthew Susmilch, who faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and threats to kill. Police advise the public not to approach him, as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
