Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5 as a cost-effective, high-performance AI model for enterprise knowledge work and coding.

Anthropic released its newest model, Claude Opus 5, designed to provide high-level intelligence for knowledge work and complex coding tasks at a lower price point than its predecessor. The administration announced that the model features stronger cybersecurity safeguards than Opus 4.8, making it less susceptible to misuse while remaining more affordable than the high-end Fable 5 model. The company positioned Opus 5 as a daily-use model, offering performance that rivals Fable 5 in many domains while costing half as much per task. While it excels in software engineering and life sciences, Anthropic noted that it remains behind the Mythos 5 model in offensive cybersecurity and biology research. To address cost concerns, the administration announced that Opus 5 will be priced at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. The model is now available on all Anthropic platforms and has been integrated into GitHub Copilot for enterprise users.
