Approximately 50 residents gathered in Vicksburg on Saturday morning to protest the construction of a new Amazon Web Services data center on Dana Road. The project, which was announced by the Vicksburg-Warren Economic Development Partnership in November 2025, represents the largest capital investment in the county’s history. The data center is expected to create at least 200 high-tech direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs throughout the region. However, some local residents expressed concerns regarding the project's impact on the community. Critics argue that the facility will increase both energy and water costs while potentially increasing health risks for nearby residents. Protesters displayed handmade signs and wore bright colors to ensure visibility during the demonstration. The site will be located near Dana Road Elementary School. While the investment promises significant economic growth for the area, the community remains divided on the long-term costs of the development.
