Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump are scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

The administration announced that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump will meet in Washington this Tuesday. The meeting follows a period of intense tit-for-tat drone strikes between the two nations. Recent Ukrainian strikes have reached deep into Russian territory, hitting an oil refinery in the Tyumen region and a logistics facility in Yekaterinburg. These long-range strikes aim to weaken Russia's war effort and pressure the Kremlin toward negotiations. Meanwhile, Russian drone strikes have caused significant civilian casualties. In the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia region, a strike on a holiday camp in Kyrylivka killed 11 people, including four children. Additionally, a Russian drone strike in the Sumy region killed three drivers for the courier service Nova Poshta. While Russia claims these strikes targeted drone storage sites, Ukraine maintains they hit civilian facilities. As the war enters its fifth summer, the UN has warned of an uptick in civilian deaths, even as both sides deny deliberately targeting non-combatants.
