Gitanas Nauseda and Edgars Rinkēvičs Warn of Potential Russian Attacks on Baltic and Polish Infrastructure
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda warned that intelligence suggests Russia is planning potential attacks against the critical energy and transport infrastructure of the Baltic states and Poland. During a joint press conference, Gitanas Nauseda detailed concerns over kinetic operations targeting key national systems. Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs added that Baltic and Polish officials must prepare for provocative actions as Russia seeks to test NATO’s defense pact. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the situation unstable, reiterating that the region is preparing for various escalation scenarios. Russia rejected the claims through spokesman Dmitry Peskov, dismissing the warnings as propaganda intended for further militarization. Despite Moscow's denials, Baltic and Polish nations have reportedly strengthened protections for key infrastructure following previous incidents. Officials emphasized that maintaining vigilance is necessary to defend the security and stability of NATO’s eastern flank.
