The Little Fire has burned over 1,000 acres in Alameda County, forcing residents of Pleasanton and Sunol to evacuate.

The Little Fire, which broke out Tuesday afternoon south of Pleasanton, has expanded to 1,007.3 acres with 10% containment. The blaze originated near Little Valley Road and Hubbard Lane, posing an immediate threat to life and forcing the evacuation of the Ruby Hill neighborhood and surrounding communities. Firefighters from Cal Fire, the Alameda County Fire Department, and the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department are utilizing engines, dozers, and aircraft to battle the flames. While the fire has been challenged by hot weather and limited access, the defensible space in the Ruby Hill area has prevented any structures from being damaged so far. One firefighter was injured during an engine rollover and transported to a local hospital. The Pleasanton Senior Center is currently serving as an evacuation support center for displaced residents. While the city of Dublin reported no immediate threats to its businesses or residents, smoke continues to drift in that direction. Investigators are currently working to determine the official cause of the fire.
