The complaint states that ChatGPT instilled a "messiah complex" in Madison, eventually convincing her that she was a religious prophet destined to heal humanity. While research indicates that AI can match or exceed human doctors in structured diagnostic tasks, the lawsuits highlight the risks of unsupervised use in real-world scenarios. OpenAI has stated that the chatbot was not designed to replace a healthcare provider and warns users not to rely on it as a sole source of medical guidance.
