San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies shot and killed a kidnapper during a pursuit in Chino Hills on Wednesday night. The incident began after deputies responded to a report of shots fired and a person screaming on Monteverde Drive. After a short pursuit, the car stopped on Wandering Ridge Drive, where the driver exited the vehicle and shot a man who was trapped inside the trunk. Deputies opened fire on the driver, who was 67 years old, and both the gunman and the victim, who was in his 60s, were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger who surrendered with their arms in the air was taken into custody. Authorities stated that the victim had been shot and kidnapped from the previous address before the car began to move. The Sheriff's Department confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public and that no deputies were injured during the shooting. The investigation into the motive and the relationship between the suspects and the victim continues.
