CVS Health Partners with Eli Lilly to Streamline Patient Access to Weight Loss Medications
CVS Health has announced a collaboration with Eli Lilly to simplify patient access to weight loss treatments, specifically Zepbound and Foundayo. The pharmacy giant is revamping its weight management program to provide more transparent pricing and direct-to-consumer access through the CVS Health app. To facilitate this, CVS Health is offering $29 virtual appointments with licensed clinicians at MinuteClinic to determine if GLP-1 therapy is appropriate for patients. These appointments are designed for self-paying adults aged 18 to 64 who are overweight or living with obesity. The initiative aims to reduce barriers such as prior authorization requirements and insurance confusion. The company also reported a strong second quarter, raising its annual profit forecast. This growth was driven by a better-than-expected mix of drugs in its pharmacy business and bonus payments for its high-rated government health plans. CVS Health continues to offer a wide range of GLP-1 medications, including injectable and oral options, with pharmacist support available at 9,000 locations.
