Darline Graham makes political debut to promote President Trump's policy priorities and represent South Carolina.
Darline Graham made her political debut before hundreds of Republican voters in South Carolina on Saturday. Serving in an interim role to fulfill her brother's term, Graham entered the race to replace him permanently in a special primary election set for August 11. She acknowledged that while she has not spent decades in politics, she understands the real-world applications of federal policy debates. Graham stated she is answering President Trump's call to serve and wants to fight for the administration's agenda. The event featured nine candidates, including former Governor Mark Sanford and U.S. Representative Russell Fry. After the speeches, an informal straw poll saw Darline Graham win the top spot. If no clear winner emerges, a runoff election will be held on August 25. The Republican nominee will eventually face Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election.
