President Trump gives Darline Graham his full endorsement to run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by her late brother.
President Trump gave his "Complete and Total Endorsement" to Darline Graham as she considers a bid to replace her late brother, Lindsey Graham, in the South Carolina U.S. Senate race. The administration announced the support via a social media post, where the president described Graham as a "WINNER" and urged her to run. Darline Graham was recently sworn in to serve as a temporary replacement for her brother, who died at age 71 following a tear in his aorta. While she was initially appointed as a placeholder, Graham has expressed a personal interest in seeking a full six-year term. Her candidacy faces competition from several high-profile politicians, including Rep. Ralph Norman and Rep. Russell Fry. The special primary is scheduled for Aug. 11. Although Graham is a newcomer to the political stage, she gained early momentum from the president's backing and the support of colleagues like Sen. Tim Scott. The winner of the Republican primary will face Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election.
