James Talarico leads Ken Paxton in Texas Senate race as Fox News poll shows Democratic enthusiasm shaping the contest
A new Fox News poll indicates that Democrat James Talarico holds a slight lead over Republican Ken Paxton in the upcoming Texas U.S. Senate race. The survey shows Talarico leading 51% to 48% among registered voters, with his advantage growing to 6 points among those who are extremely motivated or interested in the election. While Paxton received the endorsement of President Trump, the poll reveals significant fractures within the Republican coalition. Only 89% of Republicans support Paxton, compared to 98% of Democrats who back Talarico. The poll also highlights a character concern for Paxton, with 59% of voters overall believing he lacks the character to serve as a senator. Despite the lead, Paxton's team remains optimistic. Senior advisor Nick Maddux stated that the only poll that matters is the November 3rd election. Talarico's campaign is currently performing well with independents and Hispanic voters, who favor him by 18 points. The race is historically significant as Texas has not elected a Democratic senator since 1988.
