The National Weather Service reports that hot and dry conditions will persist through the weekend, with temperatures in the Denver metro area and Boulder reaching 100 degrees or more. A heat advisory remains in effect for much of the southeastern plains and parts of Fremont County. Meteorologists expect temperatures to reach 103 degrees in Pueblo and 98 degrees in Colorado Springs on Sunday. While the moisture from monsoonal conditions is providing some humidity, heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the work week. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activities during the peak heat. Denver Animal Protection also warned pet owners to avoid leaving pets in hot vehicles and to be cautious of hot pavement burning animal paws.
