Mark McKenna reports on a woman in crisis on a four-story building ledge in Eureka as police work to de-escalate the situation.

Mark McKenna reported on a large police presence in Eureka as officers worked to de-escalate a situation involving a woman standing on a ledge of a four-story building. The incident occurred at the corner of Fourth and E Streets, prompting the Eureka Police Department to deploy crisis negotiators, CARE, and CSET teams to assist the person in crisis. To manage the scene, authorities closed two lanes of Fourth Street and shut down E Street between Third and Fifth Streets. Caltrans began diverting traffic off of Fourth Street toward southbound H Street to accommodate the police presence. While the woman’s identity remained obscured in early photos, she was observed speaking to an individual who remained out of view. The Eureka Police Department advised the public to avoid the area while the negotiating team worked to resolve the incident.
