A 37-year-old Simi Valley resident was killed by police after a domestic violence pursuit ended in a violent crash and shooting.

A 37-year-old Simi Valley resident was killed on Tuesday after a brief police pursuit ended in a violent crash and shooting. The suspect, who was wanted for domestic battery and elder abuse, fled a residence and warned authorities he would "shoot it out" with them if they arrived. Officers spotted the man driving a white pickup truck near the Simi Valley Town Center at approximately 1:35 p.m. When the suspect refused to stop, he led police on a chase that returned to the 2500 block of Dusan Street. The pursuit concluded when the truck crashed into an unoccupied police motorcycle and a nearby motor home. Officers then fired a barrage of rounds at the vehicle, striking the windshield and killing the driver at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident. The Simi Valley Police Department has placed all involved officers on administrative leave while the Ventura County District Attorney's Office conducts a criminal investigation.
