President Trump unveiled a comprehensive renovation plan for Dulles International Airport, which will cost upwards of $20 billion. The administration announced the project will add over 5 million square feet of new space, including the replacement of the C and D concourses and the addition of a multi-story parking garage that President Trump described as the largest in the world. While the plan significantly increases the original $7 billion budget, the administration announced that the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will finance much of the project through municipal bonds to secure lower interest rates. The renovation will preserve the iconic main terminal designed by Eero Saarinen while introducing modern upgrades such as larger U.S. Customs areas and new AeroTrain connections. The administration announced the project will be completed over the next decade. The plan follows a December declaration by President Trump that the current airport was a "terrible airport" and required a complete rebuild. The administration also expressed interest in potentially renaming the airport after President Trump.
