Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch seeks answers on TWA Flight 800 crash as new records reveal an Egyptian terror group claimed responsibility.

Chris Farrell, the chief investigator for the nonprofit Judicial Watch, is challenging the official explanation of the 1996 TWA Flight 800 disaster. Newly surfaced FBI records reveal that a terror group from Egypt claimed credit for downing the Boeing 747-100, which killed all 230 people aboard. While the National Transportation Safety Board eventually attributed the crash to a mechanical failure—specifically a short circuit igniting the center wing fuel tank—the existence of the Egyptian claim has prompted Judicial Watch to file a federal lawsuit. Farrell noted that the official "spark" theory is preposterous, especially given that investigators worked hard to dismiss the possibility of a criminal act in 1996. The group is also highlighting claims from physicist Dr. Tom Stalcup, who suggested that evidence of an external force was altered during the investigation. Judicial Watch hopes a new documentary will prompt government agencies to provide more transparency regarding the mystery of the explosion.
