Capt. Jacob Sparks confirmed that eight family members, including six children, were found dead inside a Michigan home following a fire.
Capt. Jacob Sparks reported that emergency crews discovered eight members of the same family dead inside a residence in Grand Haven Township on Friday. The victims included two adults and six children, aged five to 15. While the house was filled with smoke, the fire was not extensive enough to be seen clearly from the outside. Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene after reports of white smoke coming from a front window. Upon entering the home to battle the flames, crews found the bodies of the entire family. Capt. Jacob Sparks noted that at least some of the victims sustained gunshot wounds. Investigators from the Michigan State Police arson team are currently working to determine the exact cause of the fire and the point of origin. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities are not currently pursuing any suspects from outside the home. The administration of the investigation remains active as autopsies are scheduled to be completed over the weekend.
