Abdul El-Sayed is currently leading U.S. Representative Haley Stevens in the Michigan Democratic Senate primary. According to recent Emerson College Polling data, El-Sayed holds a double-digit lead, with 54% of likely voters supporting him compared to 39% for Stevens. The progressive candidate, a former public health official, appeals strongly to younger voters under 50, who favor him by a 42-point margin. Conversely, Stevens maintains a lead among voters over 60, where she holds a 14-point advantage. El-Sayed has positioned himself as a candidate for change, advocating for the abolishment of ICE and a restructured Supreme Court. He has criticized corporate donors for potentially monetizing the Senate seat. Stevens, however, emphasizes her independence from special interests and claims she is the only Democrat capable of defeating the Republican nominee, Mike Rogers, who was endorsed by President Trump.
