Jametrius Griffin Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charges Following Deadly Shooting in Lexington Park

Jametrius Griffin, an 18-year-old man, entered a not guilty plea on Monday regarding a mass shooting that occurred at Charles Young Park during a community celebration. The shooting resulted in the death of 16-year-old Di'Zhon Robertson and left four other people, including two children, wounded with non-life-threatening injuries. Lexington police authorities arrested Griffin less than 24 hours after the gunfire erupted on Saturday evening. Police Chief Lawrence Weathers indicated that the incident was not a random act of violence, though the investigation into whether the shooting was gang-related remains ongoing. Mayor Linda Gorton emphasized that community safety is a shared responsibility, while Governor Andy Beshear described the event as a senseless act of violence.
