Lexington Police Arrest Jametrius M. Griffin Following Mass Shooting at Charles Young Park

Lexington police arrested Jametrius M. Griffin on allegations of murder, assault, and tampering with evidence following a mass shooting at Charles Young Park on Saturday evening. The incident resulted in the death of 16-year-old Di’Zhon Robertson and left four others injured, including two children aged 4 and 14. Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers confirmed that the investigation is active and stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. Mayor Linda Gorton and Devine Carama, director of ONE Lexington, have organized mental health and trauma support resources at the Dunbar Community Center to assist those affected by the tragedy. The shooting occurred during an outdoor concert and summer festivities. While Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear used the event to advocate for electing Democrats to reduce mass shootings, Devine Carama emphasized that the incident is a matter of humanity rather than politics. Police are currently seeking any additional information from the community to help solve the case.
