One passenger died and another was injured after a tour bus caught fire on the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights.

A tour bus traveling on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights caught fire Friday morning, leaving one passenger dead and another injured. The California Highway Patrol reported that the bus driver noticed a check engine light and smoke emitting from the rear of the vehicle, prompting him to pull over to the right shoulder. Fire crews responded to the scene and extinguished the flames, which burned out more than half of the bus. While 18 passengers were on board, one person was found dead at the scene, and a second person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation injuries. The bus, operated by Viajes Azteca, was transporting passengers to Mexico. Investigators are currently determining if several propane tanks found on board contributed to the fire. The incident caused significant traffic delays as several lanes of the freeway remained closed for investigation. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will determine the identity of the deceased passenger.
