Bakersfield Police arrest a 15-year-old boy in connection with a deadly shooting at Independence High School.

Bakersfield police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred during a football game at Independence High School on Friday night. The shooting took place around 8 p.m. inside the school's football stadium, where a 17-year-old boy was shot and subsequently died at Kern Medical. Investigators believe the shooting resulted from an isolated altercation between two groups of individuals. While the shooting was a tragedy for the community, Sgt. Eric Celedon of the Bakersfield police stated that the investigation is ongoing and expressed confidence that the stadium would be full again next week. The incident occurred on the same night as a separate scare at Los Angeles Southwest College, where a false report of a shooting led to an evacuation, though no actual shooting was confirmed.
