Mary Allen was killed during a series of explosions at a Toledo industrial recycling facility on Tuesday morning.

Mary Allen was confirmed as one of the two employees killed during back-to-back explosions at Brent Industries, an industrial recycling facility in Toledo, Ohio. The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on August 18, when a series of blasts ruptured chemical tanks and caused a partial roof collapse. Toledo Fire Chief Allison Armstrong reported that the explosions occurred during an employee shift change, leaving several workers injured and two others unaccounted for. While many employees were treated for minor injuries at the scene, the rubble of the building was initially too dangerous for firefighters to fully search. Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz described the event as a tragic and unusual occurrence. The facility specializes in industrial cleaning and reconditioning of materials such as textiles and safety wear. Investigators are currently working to determine the official cause and origin of the fire and explosions.
