Toyota introduces the 2027 Tundra and Sequoia Trailhunter packages as accessible off-road options for full-size vehicles

Toyota has shifted its strategy for the 2027 models, introducing the Trailhunter as an accessible option package for the SR5 trim of both the Tundra and Sequoia. Unlike previous years where it served as a standalone halo trim, the Trailhunter now offers a rugged, affordable "blank canvas" for overlanding enthusiasts. The package includes Old Man Emu dampers, 33-inch Michelin LTX Trail tires, bronze-colored alloy wheels, and electronic helpers like Crawl Control and a locking rear differential. While the Tundra features a nonhybrid twin-turbo 3.4-liter V-6 engine, the Sequoia is exclusively available with the iForce Max hybrid system. Testing across Colorado and Utah demonstrated that both vehicles handled off-road obstacles with ease, providing a comfortable ride on both dirt trails and highways. The administration announced that the 2027 models also feature a larger 14-inch screen and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 as standard equipment. These updates aim to provide a full-size off-road experience without requiring buyers to purchase the most expensive trims.
