A 26-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bike in Vista.
A 26-year-old man died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bike in Vista. The collision occurred at approximately 3:38 p.m. near the intersection of South Melrose Drive and Breeze Hill Road, near Breeze Hill Park. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the rider crossed South Melrose Drive against a red traffic signal and was struck by a northbound vehicle. The man was transported to the community hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities stated that neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be a factor in the fatal crash. The Vista Sheriff Station's Traffic Unit is currently handling the investigation.
