Alan Clarke Confirms Ford Fathom Will Feature Two Battery Options to Balance Range and Cost
Alan Clarke, vice president of advanced development projects at Ford, confirmed that the upcoming Ford Fathom electric pickup will offer two distinct battery sizes. The vehicle, which is the first model built on the company's new universal EV platform, will feature a standard range unit and an extended range option. While Ford previously targeted 300 miles of range for the new pickup, Clarke clarified that the 300-mile figure will apply to the extended range version rather than the base model. This strategic move aims to provide a variety of battery chemistries and form factors to meet different consumer needs, from daily commuters to long-distance travelers. The Ford Fathom will start at a price point of $29,945, including destination fees. Pilot production is scheduled to begin at the Louisville Assembly Plant in early 2027, with customer deliveries expected to follow later that year. The vehicle will also feature embedded Apple Maps for navigation and EV routing.
