Philadelphia Police Investigate Connected Armed Robberies Involving AR-15-Style Rifles In Center City
Philadelphia police are investigating a series of connected armed robberies in Center City involving suspects armed with AR-15-style rifles. The most recent incident occurred on the 1500 block of Sansom Street around 2:15 a.m. on Friday, where two masked men in a light-colored sedan robbed a 23-year-old man of his gold chains and silver diamond watch. One suspect carried an AR-15-style rifle while the other held a black handgun. No injuries were reported in this latest theft. This robbery is linked to a similar incident that took place on the 1500 block of Locust Street on Sunday, August 23. In that case, three masked men and a driver exited a gray Honda Accord to rob three people. One of the suspects brandished an AR-15-style rifle, while others used handguns. During the robbery, one victim was pistol-whipped in the face and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police are seeking at least four suspects in connection with both cases.
