Levi Jacob Flores, Robert Miguel Gutierrez-Avalos, and Victor Hugo Delgado Killed in Anaheim Freeway Crash
Three teenagers were killed and one person was injured when a Ford Edge veered off the southbound Lincoln Avenue off-ramp of the 5 Freeway in Anaheim on Thursday morning. The crash occurred around 3:15 a.m. to 3:17 a.m. The vehicle struck a guardrail and a concrete pillar before careening down a sloped embankment and overturning in the brush. Levi Jacob Flores, 15, of Garden Grove; Robert Miguel Gutierrez-Avalos, 16, of Santa Ana; and Victor Hugo Delgado, 17, of Santa Ana, were the victims. Two of the teenagers were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining two were rushed to a hospital, where one was later pronounced dead. Investigators from the California Highway Patrol stated that none of the occupants were wearing seat belts. A witness reported that the driver of the white SUV appeared to miss the off-ramp and lost control while making a late attempt to take the exit. The crash caused a temporary closure of the freeway lanes, which were fully reopened by 8 a.m.
