California Highway Patrol officer stops vehicle to seize 30 pounds of suspected cocaine valued at $817,200
A California Highway Patrol canine officer seized approximately 30 pounds of suspected cocaine during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Merced County on Wednesday. The drugs, which have an estimated street value of $817,200, were discovered in a 2025 Honda CR-V after the officer identified several indicators of possible criminal activity. The driver was detained without incident and subsequently booked into the Merced County Main Jail. The driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale and transportation of cocaine across noncontiguous counties. The investigation has been turned over to the Merced Area Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team, also known as MAGNET, for further review.
