President Abelardo De La Espriella Announces Security Block to Strengthen Barranquilla's Safety for the Final Four Months of the Year

These officers will work alongside the 6,500 police officers from the Barranquilla Metropolitan Area, including more than 3,500 assigned exclusively to the district. Yesid Turbay, head of the Office for Security and Civil Coexistence, stated that the reinforcement will be located at critical points and security capsules to address criminal activity in specific quadrants. The strategy involves coordinated actions between local, department, and national authorities to anticipate risks in commercial zones, and high-density public areas. The plan includes reinforced surveillance during peak movement periods such as Amor y Amistad, Halloween, and the festive cycle of December. The Secretary of Transit will deploy 64 agents, 120 road orienters, and 30 road educators to conduct alcohol tests and operations on main roads. Additionally, the Secretary of Urban Control and Public Space will deploy approximately 130 officials to monitor informal sales, illegal parking, and land use in the historic center, plazas, and parks.
