Police Issue Arrest Warrant for Zymire Hughes After He Terrorized Pedestrians in Philadelphia

Philadelphia police have issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Zymire Hughes, who is accused of terrorizing pedestrians in Center City during the early morning hours of August 12. Wearing a Chucky-style Halloween mask and holding a cellphone, Hughes allegedly chased and threatened several people, notably asking a jogger if she was "ready to die" while filming the interaction for social media fame. The woman allegedly suffered a leg injury while fleeing the suspect. District Attorney Larry Krasner described the suspect as a "punk" who scared residents for no good reason, emphasizing that the behavior was not a laughing matter. While Hughes was not armed, his actions prompted residents to seek advice from self-defense expert Jamie Miller, who is partnering with police to offer a free self-defense class. Investigators believe Hughes may have fled Pennsylvania, as he has known ties to California and Nevada. Police are currently working with the U.S. Marshals Service to track him down and hold him accountable for potential charges including terroristic threats, harassment, and simple assault.
