While missiles for man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) remain vital for engaging low-flying aircraft and drones, Yankee noted that devices like drone detectors and portable power stations, such as EcoFlows, are essential for maintaining equipment in areas where power infrastructure is often destroyed. These electronics are necessary to locate threats and warn crews before attacks occur. Because Ukraine lacks a centralized procurement system, units often source their own gear through crowdfunding and direct manufacturer engagement. This decentralized approach allows for rapid innovation but can lead to uneven distribution across the military.
