President Abelardo de la Espriella Allocates Resources to Repair University Hospital of the Valley Following Earthquake

President Abelardo de la Espriella visited the University Hospital of the Valley in Cali to oversee recovery efforts following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake. The administration announced the allocation of 4,386 million pesos to equip the hospital's oncology functional unit and provided resources for renting infrastructure to ensure continued service provision. During the visit, President Abelardo de la Espriella noted that the government is working to recover the total operation of the department. The earthquake caused significant damage, with technical analyses indicating that 40% to 45% of the hospital infrastructure was affected. Rescue teams are currently working with extreme caution to remove debris and locate five people who remain trapped under the rubble. The administration also coordinated with the Minister of Interior, Rodrigo Lara, to distribute aid, including 200 tents and 6,000 blankets. While families of the victims wait for news, the government remains focused on the preservation of the hospital's structure and long-term recovery plan.
