Abelardo de la Espriella presents the 'Book of Truth' to highlight corruption and irregularities during the previous administration of Gustavo Petro.
President Abelardo de la Espriella has released the 'Book of Truth,' a comprehensive document detailing numerous irregularities and suspected corruption cases from the previous government. The report identifies over 80 alleged corruption cases, including a 'parallel list' of 900,000 contracts for services provision, which the administration described as 'corbatas' and estimated to have a potential debt of $5 billion. Former President Gustavo Petro has faced criticism from the Pacto Histórico coalition for his management of the earthquake emergency and the lack of institutional transition. Senator Esmeralda Hernández criticized the current administration for political decisions that allegedly hindered international aid. To address these findings, National Attorney General Luz Adriana Camargo has ordered the formation of a Special Tasks Group. This team, led by two experienced judicial experts, will verify and analyze the evidence to determine if formal investigations will be opened into the cases reported by the administration.
