The Mexican Navy seized nearly 2 tons of suspected cocaine and detained two crew members off the coast of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.

The Mexican Navy (Semar) intercepted a boat carrying approximately 1,900 kilograms of suspected cocaine off the coast of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero. The operation, conducted by naval personnel from the Eighth Naval Region, resulted in the seizure of 53 containers and the detention of two crew members. Authorities estimated the economic impact of the seizure to be over 400 million pesos for organized crime. The operation prevented approximately three million doses of cocaine from reaching the public. The Secretariat of Marine reported that during the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the institution has seized nearly 90 tons of cocaine in various maritime operations. The two detainees were transferred to the Eighth Naval Region in Acapulco, Guerrero, to be handed over to the General Attorney of the Republic (FGR) for further investigation.
