Natalia Lopez Fuentes, the Minister of Labour, emphasized that the measures are designed to act with humanity and solidarity to preserve jobs while protecting life. Key measures include the possibility of working from home, flexible hours, and the voluntary advance payment of December premiums. Workers may also take advance vacations or partially withdraw pensions for housing repairs. The ministry clarified that the earthquake does not automatically result in contract suspensions or dismissals. Instead, the guidelines encourage employers and community dialogue to reach individual agreements. The earthquake left 134,342 homes damaged and 29,554 destroyed. The administration announced a reconstruction phase to assist communities in recovery. These measures are not a new exceptional regime but rather a set of orientations to ensure safe working conditions and help families maintain their livelihoods during the national disaster.
