Jalisco Nueva Generaci贸n Cartel Members Use Car Bombs to Attack Ojocaliente Public Security Headquarters

Presumed members of the Jalisco Nueva Generaci贸n (CJNG) cartel used two cars loaded with explosives to attack the municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) headquarters in Ojocaliente, Zacatecas. One of the vehicles was reported stolen in Jalisco. The two vehicles exploded simultaneously, presumably triggered by a digital device at a distance, causing severe damage to the headquarters and five nearby homes. The blast left one female police officer and 15 people, including a baby, injured. Three of the victims were reported to be in serious condition. The explosion also caused damage to 30 houses and 11 vehicles in the surrounding area. Jorge Luis Gallardo 脕lvarez, the state's Civil Protection Director, stated that the shockwave affected homes four blocks away. He clarified that while social media reports of requests for support for the victims are circulating, the Zacatecas government is currently conducting a census to determine the specific needs of the victims. Rodrigo Reyes Muguerza, the state's Secretary of Government, described the attack as a reaction to recent arrests of cartel members. The state's Public Security Secretariat reported that the explosions have become frequent since 2025, with several investigations open regarding police attacks on state roads and paths.
