United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby Outlines Expansion Plans for International Routes and New York Hubs

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby announced a strategic vision to expand the carrier's international footprint and increase its presence at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Kirby, who joined United in 2016 after being fired by American Airlines, aims to grow the airline's network in South America and the Southeast U.S. while leveraging the carrier's leadership in international flights. To achieve these goals, the administration announced that United will return to JFK through a partnership with JetBlue Airways as early as next year. Kirby also highlighted the plans to utilize the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft to reach more obscure European destinations. The airline is currently preparing to unveil a host of new international routes, including potential service to Scandinavia and other European capitals. While Kirby has explored megamergers with Delta and American, both carriers have currently rebuffed the offers. Instead, Kirby remains focused on long-term growth and improving reliability through artificial intelligence tools.
