Far-right activist Jake Lang addressed the Dearborn City Council on Tuesday, sparking a large-scale demonstration of religious extremism. While Lang, a pro-Christian and anti-Islam activist, made incendiary claims about white Christians being replaced in the city, supporters of pro-Muslim and pro-Christian groups clashed outside the Henry Ford Centennial Library. Mayor Abdullah Hammoud offered a message of unity, emphasizing that Dearborn is a city of love rather than hate. He noted that portraying the city as being overtaken by Muslims ignores the contributions of Christian brothers and sisters. Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, a pro-Trump supporter, also partnered with Lang to highlight economic opportunities for Black Americans. The event was marked by a period of tense moments where rioters slammed into the building and shoved officers. Law enforcement agencies, including the Michigan State Police and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, coordinated to ensure safety during the demonstration. Lang, who was pardoned by President Trump in 2025, spoke through a megaphone to the crowd.
